Dot Hill today added more software function to its 3000 series, called AssuredSnap for snapshot, AssuredCopy for volume copy and AssuredRemote for remote replication. The new model numbers, (in addition to its 3000 initial C series), are called 3720S and 3730S and include AssuredSnap and AssuredCopy. While the top end models 3920R and 3930R includes AssuredSnap, AssuredCopy and AssuredRemote.

As mentioned in this post Dot Hill is aiming at growing its revenue by:

  • Building the distribution channel in addition to its OEM business
  • Adding Software features

SMB customers increasingly need the types of storage sophistication, which was once the preserve of Enterprise IT. IT professionals these days routinely deploy functions like snapshots, volume copy and remote copy across multiple storage tiers.

Pre-packaging these types of functions enables Dot Hill’s channel partners to engage with its customers addressing a variety of data protection schemes. And supports Dot Hill’s new strategy.
