Background:
Claus’ first career in IT started in IT Operations in his native Denmark where he honed his skills in managing
the storage environments.
In 1991 Claus moved to the UK, becoming an Industry Analyst at Market Research company IDC. His first
role was as a storage analyst providing research to (1) IT customers, (2) the leasing industry as well as
(3) the IT vendors. The analysis was focused on understanding the impact on prices and values of IT
equipments as a result of the introduction of new technology.
In 1998 Claus took on a new role at IDC, eventually managing the entire European storage market research practice.
While this program was initially based on the core services of market sizing and forecasting, soon new
opportunities presented themselves. The business expanded quickly as the storage team broadened
its skills and activities.
